The Jazz Showcase
PHOTO ESSAY
Photography, Spring 2017

This project is a long-term photographic investigation of a specific place. The study is presented in the form of carefully composed original photographs, sketches and narrative. The format is a series of facing-page spreads whose graphic format (page proportion, layout, typeface, progression) is identical to a publication model.

The place which I frequent in Chicago is one of the most vibrant yet tranquil live show bar in South Loop, The Jazz Showcase. The experience is one-of-a-kind because it makes you travel to the past golden days of Jazz history through music, lighting, curtain, furniture and old photographs on the wall. The investigation focuses on capturing this experience and reproducing the atmosphere in a series of frames.
